- Cette infrastructure, d’un poids d’environ 3 400 tonnes, sera le cœur énergétique du parc éolien offshore de Saint-Brieuc de 500 MW, le premier d’Iberdrola en France et le deuxième en exploitation dans le pays.
- La sous-station collectera l’électricité produite par les éoliennes offshore, suffisamment pour répondre aux besoins de 835 000 foyers et éviter l’émission de près de 200 000 tonnes de CO2 par an dans l’atmosphère.

(COMMUNIQUÉ DE PRESSE) BILBAO, 8-Jul-2022 — /EuropaWire/ — Iberdrola (BME : IBE), une multinationale espagnole leader dans le domaine de l’énergie propre et un pionnier dans le déploiement des smart grids, annonce le succès de l’installation de la sous-station du parc éolien offshore de Saint-Brieuc en Bretagne, France. Cette infrastructure deviendra le premier site majeur d’Iberdrola de cette technologie en France, le quatrième de l’entreprise dans le monde, et le deuxième en France une fois opérationnel en 2023.
Pesant quelque 3 400 tonnes – plus lourdes que 20 Boeing 747 – cette sous-station sera chargée de collecter toute l’électricité produite par les 62 éoliennes de la centrale, estimée à 1 820 GWh/an. La production est suffisante pour alimenter les besoins de 835 000 foyers, chauffage compris, et éviter l’émission de près de 200 000 tonnes de CO2 par an dans l’atmosphère.
Pour transférer l’électricité produite vers la terre, l’entreprise installera 90 kilomètres de câble sous-marin, soit près de trois fois la longueur habituellement requise pour un parc éolien terrestre. Tous les câbles entre les éoliennes seront enterrés pour assurer la sécurité de la navigation et le maintien des activités de pêche au sein du parc éolien.
Cette infrastructure de distribution d’électricité a été construite en Belgique par une joint-venture entre Smulders (filiale d’Eiffage Metal) et Equans. Le premier a réalisé l’ingénierie et la construction des fondations et de la sous-station qui abrite les transformateurs et autres équipements électriques – fournis par GE Renewable Energy Grid Solutions -, tandis que le second a réalisé son montage et sera responsable de sa mise en service.
La structure supportant cette sous-station est constituée d’une fondation jacket de 63 mètres de haut et pesant 1 630 tonnes. La sous-station mesure 55 mètres de long, 31 mètres de large et 23 mètres de haut, avec un poids total d’environ 3 400 tonnes.
Les deux éléments sont arrivés dans la zone du parc fin juin en provenance des chantiers navals belges d’Equans à Hoboken et de Heerema Fabrication Group à Vlissingen, où la sous-station et la fondation ont été respectivement fabriquées.
Selon Emmanuel Rollin, responsable de l’activité offshore d’Iberdrola en France, à la mise en service de cette installation, « le département des Côtes d’Armor, porté par le parc éolien offshore de Saint-Brieuc, sera le premier contributeur d’énergies renouvelables en Bretagne, produisant l’équivalent de 9 % de la consommation totale d’électricité de la région ».
PLATEFORMES D’ÉOLIENNES AVEC UNE EMPREINTE ESPAGNOLE
Outre l’installation du poste, la construction de Saint-Brieuc se poursuit également avec l’installation des plateformes éoliennes offshore (jackets) construites par le consortium Navantia-Windar.
Jusqu’à présent, 4 plates-formes ont été installées sur le total de 62 que comptera l’installation. Ces éléments ont été fabriqués dans les installations de Navantia-Windar à Brest et Fene, tandis que les pieux qui ancrent les éoliennes au fond marin ont été construits dans les installations de Windar à Avilés.
Ce projet a généré 1 250 emplois directs à Avilés et Fene. De plus, à la suite de ce contrat – d’une valeur de 350 millions d’euros – Navantia-Windar a ouvert une usine à Brest, en France, où les 186 poignards et plates-formes intermédiaires des pièces de transition et la structure en treillis de 34 des 62 structures de le parc ont été fabriqués, générant 250 emplois.
La construction du parc éolien de Saint-Brieuc va générer plus de 1 500 emplois en France, répartis entre différentes entreprises du pays (dont 250 à la centrale Navantia-Windar Brest). Au total, cela signifie la création d’au moins 2 750 emplois entre les deux pays.
Les quais de Saint-Brieuc reposent sur trois pieds. Chacun mesure jusqu’à 75 mètres de haut, 25 mètres de large et pèse 1 150 tonnes. Iberdrola a utilisé pour la première fois un dispositif hydraulique innovant appelé pinces à pieux pour fixer ces structures, qui fournit une fixation et une stabilité supplémentaires pendant la phase d’installation, qui devrait commencer dans les mois à venir.
Iberdrola a déjà attribué à Navantia-Windar des contrats d’une valeur de plus d’un milliard d’euros, dont l’attribution à Windar des pièces de transition pour les parcs éoliens offshore Baltic Eagle en Allemagne et Vineyard Wind 1 aux États-Unis, ainsi que les commandes déjà réalisées pour Wikinger en mer Baltique et East Anglia One au Royaume-Uni.
De plus, cette collaboration a contribué à faire de Navantia une référence mondiale dans la construction de composants éoliens offshore et le premier fournisseur de ce type de structure en France, avec l’un des plus grands potentiels de développement de cette industrie en Europe.
Situé à quelque 16 kilomètres au large des côtes, le parc éolien offshore de Saint-Brieuc couvrira une superficie de 75 kilomètres carrés. Sa construction représente un investissement global de près de 2,5 milliards d’euros.
Cette nouvelle installation démontre l’engagement d’Iberdrola sur le marché français, où l’entreprise prévoit d’investir environ 4 milliards d’euros d’ici 2025, principalement dans des projets renouvelables.
L’énergie éolienne offshore est l’une des clés de la croissance d’Iberdrola. Tout comme le groupe a été pionnier dans son engagement dans l’éolien terrestre il y a deux décennies, l’entreprise est à la pointe du développement de l’éolien offshore.
