1,700 prominent Chinese and int’l public- and private-sector leaders to attend World Economic Forum’s 9th Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China

Beijing, People’s Republic of China, 3-9-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — Premier Li Keqiang of China will give a special address at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions, which will take place on 9 to 11 September in Dalian, China.

The meeting is a leading global gathering on innovation, entrepreneurship, science and technology. It is held in close collaboration with the People’s Republic of China, with the support of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), and will welcome more than 1,700 participants from 90 countries. Under the theme, Charting a New Course for Growth, this year’s meeting will focus on six thematic tracks:

Transformational Science: From next-generation robotics to genetic engineering, breakthroughs in science and technology are deeply disrupting economies and societies.
Industry Disruption: Ubiquitous connectivity, infinite data and machine intelligence are poised to transform industries and markets, from energy to healthcare to finance.
Economic Uncertainty: Average global growth has returned to pre-crisis levels, but rising volatility, slowing productivity and growing inequality signal that we are far from the all-clear.
China’s New Normal: China’s economic influence is growing – from Central Asia to the Russian Far East and the South China Sea to the Indian Ocean. Despite an inevitable slowdown, global growth keeps shifting East.
Environmental Boundaries: Research suggests that humanity has exceeded four of nine limits for keeping the planet hospitable to life. As human pressures on Earth’s resources rise, so does the likelihood of irreversible loss.
Being Human: Artists, designers and educators explore the power of new technologies to shift perspectives back to the fundamentals of humanity, values and decision-making.

When commenting on the role of innovation in today’s fast-changing world at the pre-meeting press conference, David Aikman, Chief Representative Officer, Greater China, and Managing Director at the World Economic Forum said: “Innovations are crucial to our global future. China has immense economic potential and prospects; its growth, at the same time, will also bring more opportunities to many other countries.” The meeting programme highlights a series of China-related topics including renminbi reform, a new energy strategy, the Internet-Plus plan and international collaboration on industrial capacity.

Lu Lin, Vice-Mayor of Dalian, said that this year will be the fifth time that the city will host the meeting. “Dalian has been gaining increasing international recognition and becoming more and more open to the world ever since it started to host the Annual Meeting of the New Champions in 2007.
