Volkswagen announces appointments in Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand

 

  • Jochen Sengpiehl to be new Head of Marketing of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand
  • Xavier Chardon to head Digitalization Project House in China

WOLFSBURG, 01-Aug-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Effective September 1, 2017, Jochen Sengpiehl (50) is to be the new Head of Marketing of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand. He succeeds Xavier Chardon (45), who is to become Head of the Digitalization China Project House of the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand in Beijing with effect from September 1. In this function, Chardon is to be responsible for key future topics of the Volkswagen brand in China.

Jochen Sengpiehl holds a degree in business administration and has extensive marketing experience. He started his career in 1995 with Nissan in the Netherlands. After holding various responsible positions with BBDO and DaimlerChrysler, he was appointed as Head of Marketing by Volkswagen for the first time in 2006. In 2010, Sengpiehl left Volkswagen to be self-employed before assuming responsibility for the marketing activities of Hyundai in Europe from 2014.

Xavier Chardon holds an MBA and started his career with Citroën in Italy in 1994. He then gained extensive experience in responsible sales and marketing positions. In 2007, he became Head of Global Marketing and PR of Citroën; in 2009, he was appointed General Manager in the French market. He joined the Volkswagen Passenger Cars brand as Head of Sales Europe at the beginning of 2012, since 2014 he has been responsible in the function of Head of Marketing.
