Uljanik shipyard: Keel for yard 501 laid

16-7-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — On Slipway No.2 of Uljanik island the keel for yard 501 was laid on 4th July 2013. This is the first of two contracted ferries (RO-PAX) designed for the transportation of passengers, trucks and other vehicles in the Caspian Sea region, and constructed by Uljanik shipyard for the company „State Service of Maritime and River Transportation“ from Turkmenistan.

In addition to the leading people from Uljanik, Mr. Yakup Valijev,  head of the Foreign Relations Department of the State Service of Marine and River Transportation of Turkmenistan, and accompanied by his collaborators also attended the ceremony of keel laying. On that occasion Valijev pointed out that he hopes for new projects and construction of vessels as Turkmenistan is constantly developing its fleet.

The vesselwill be 155.8 m long, 17.5 m wide and will be driven by two four-stroke engineseach having a power of 3,060 kW. The Contract for the construction of yard 501was signed in August 2012 while, following that said during the keel laying ceremony,the launch of the vessel is expected for the end of the year.
