Martorell, 13-Jun-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — The virtual international championship SEAT Leon CUPRA Eurocup online 2017 is beginning its second edition next week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with the first day of hotlaps scheduled for Saturday 17 June. Participants in this competition organised by SEAT Sport and Cloud Sport will have the chance to show off their skills by driving the Leon Cup Racer, the racecar that is competing in the TCR International Series, on the digital platform.

Following the success of the first edition, this year’s edition features even more races and prizes than last year. The championship consists of seven races, four more than in 2016, where the competitors can demonstrate their virtual driving prowess on some of Europe’s main racing circuits. In addition, in a new development, officials from the RACE will be on hand to monitor compliance with the rules and fair play, in order to turn this competition into a virtual championship that is as close as possible to the real thing.

From the steering wheel of a simulator to the racecar

The winner of this edition will have the opportunity to learn first-hand driving secrets from SEAT driver and brand ambassador Jordi Gené during an exclusive master class on the Castellolí circuit. The best virtual driver will trade a simulator for the Leon Cup Racer for a day to test his real driving skills at the wheel of SEAT Sport’s competition model, which delivers 350 hp output and a top speed of 267 km/h.

Furthermore, the seven individual winners of the races, which will be taking place on the Barcelona-Catalunya, Silverstone, Estoril, Spa, Monza, Nürburgring and Red Bull Ring circuits, will all receive a prize package consisting of exclusive SEAT Sport equipment.

The champion of last year’s edition of the SEAT Leon Eurocup online was Poland’s Kristian Kwietniewski. He proved he had the same expertise with the simulator as in a real race and came out the winner in his category at the 500 km of Alcañiz, where he teamed up with Jordi Gené and Àlex Crivillé.
