SGS: Hazardous Substance Control (HSC) workshops delivered to Lanier’s major fabric suppliers and production factories in China and Vietnam

GENEVA, 16-Jun-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — The latest Hazardous Substance Control (HSC) workshops were delivered to some of Lanier’s major fabric suppliers and production factories in China and Vietnam.

From product compliance to chemical management, Lanier has partnered with SGS on various testing and compliance projects. Following the most recent HSC training, Lanier’s suppliers will be able to tackle product compliance requirements using the chemical management knowledge they received from the workshops.

HSC Workshop for the Textile Industry

HSC is a pioneering workshop developed by SGS to train personnel and professionals to advance the industry’s knowledge and best practices in chemical management. The HSC Workshop focuses on chemical management at each critical step in textile production. Large amounts of chemicals are consumed in steps such as dyeing, printing, washing, and finishing. Using the core concept of chemical flow management (CFM), this advanced and interactive workshop educates participants in chemical risk assessment for specific manufacturing processes.

Since 2016, the HSC workshops have been held in different key sourcing countries including China, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Turkey and Vietnam.

Positive Feedback from Brands and Suppliers

Brands and suppliers have found this workshop beneficial by putting them ahead in the industry and helping them with chemical management in the supply chain.

After the HSC workshop, Steve DiBlasi, VP of Global Sourcing for Lanier Clothes, one of the largest resources in men’s tailored clothing said, “I would like to thank SGS’s Global Softlines team for the Chemical Management Training they conducted for us in both Ho Chi Minh City and Shanghai. The course was comprehensive in its scope and met all the requirements we needed to comply with chemical management for brands and private label customers. The training continues to yield benefits for us, as our suppliers now maintain their chemical inventories in the method outlined in the training and all of them are following the same principles. Over the next few months, this process will continue with follow up audits and a documentation review. Moving forward, new suppliers will be required to participate in this training. As customers continue to look higher up in the supply chain for compliance issues, this training keeps us ahead of the requirements. I highly recommend this program to anyone operating in the apparel industry today.”

SGS continues to work with many different brands and retailers in the textile and footwear industries to address industry challenges by providing a one-stop professional solution.
