Not-for-profit water company Welsh Water completes £1 million project work for Hereford’s wastewater system

WALES, 23-Nov-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Welsh Water has completed work on a project worth almost £1 million which will boost the performance of Hereford’s wastewater system.

The £950,000 project work by the not-for-profit water company saw parts of the network in Windermere Road and Yazor Road in the Kings Acre area upgraded.  The company began work in August on the scheme which will improve the performance of the network by reducing the amount of surface water which currently finds its way in during heavy rain.  This will help the network operate more effectively during heavy rain and in turn reduce the risk of flooding from the network.

Welsh Water’s Capital Delivery Manager, Shaun O’Leary said: “We’re delighted to have completed this investment in Hereford.  The work reflects our commitment to ensuring we provide an effective sewer system which gives customers a first class service and protects our valuable environment.

“We were able to carry out most of the work away from the highway so kept any disruption to local people to an absolute minimum.  Even so, we would still like to thank people for bearing with us while we undertook this essential work”.
