Neste: We appreciate the US EPA’s commitment to biofuels and continued support to Renewable Fuel Standard program

The US EPA announced its proposal on renewable fuel volume requirements

ESPOO, 12-Jul-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in the USA finalized the renewable fuel volume requirements for 2018 under the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS) program on 5 July 2017.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel meets the requirements of an advanced biofuel in the biomass-based diesel category. The final ruling increases requirements for advanced biofuels in the biomass-based diesel category from the current 2.0 billion gallons to 2.1 billion gallons in 2018.  The EPA also proposed a volume requirement for biomass-based diesel for 2019 to remain at the same level as in 2018. The EPA is expected to finalize the volume requirements for all biofuel categories later this year. The proposal is available on the EPA’s website.

“We appreciate the EPA’s commitment to biofuels and continued support to Renewable Fuel Standard program,” says Kaisa Hietala, Executive Vice President of Neste’s Renewable Products business area.

“Neste MY Renewable Diesel is an ideal low-carbon fuel to meet the US renewable fuel standards, as it is fully compatible with existing fuel distribution systems. We look forward to continued participation in the US market and the finalization of the volume requirements,” continues Hietala.

Neste MY Renewable Diesel is being used by US fuel distributors, refiners, and blenders to meet their renewable fuel requirements. Additionally, the fuel is being used by US cities such as San Diego and Sacramento as well as corporations such as UPS.
