MCM London Comic Con Bringing Best Line Up Yet To ExCel

Full line up will include a special preview of ‘The World’s End’ by writer-director Edgar Wright

22-5-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — The spring instalment of London’s MCM Comic Con is nearly upon us. Scheduled to take place at the ExCel Centre this weekend, the 24-26 May, the pop cultural extravaganza is promising its best line up yet, with appearances from the teams behind Doctor Who and Wallace & Gromit among the highlights.

All the usual sideshows will be there, with Expo, JapanEx and Vidfest setting out their stalls (literally) to promote their current projects, and give fans an insight into future ventures in the worlds of film, comics, gaming and television.

For many, the headlining appearance will undoubtedly be the presence of UK genre hero and fanboy director Edgar Wright, the man behind Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead. Wright will be making appearances all weekend, mostly to discuss the third instalment in the so-called Cornetto Trilogy, following not-so hot on the heels from the aforementioned hit Britcoms. Once again, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will be doing the business in front of the camera, in a film co-starring Martin Freeman and Paddy Considine, as well as the usual slew of cameos from various leading lights of the comedy scene.

Already trailing online with a tantalizing teaser, the movie has been hotly anticipated in the intervening years since Hot Fuzz came out in 2007. Fans of the holy Wright-Pegg-Frost trinity will doubtless grill Wright with their usual zeal, and will be hoping for some inside information on the development of the project, due for release later this summer.

Wright’s last minute addition is a real coup for MCM, and tickets are selling fast, so any fans of the trio are advised to book quickly to be sure of a place at the convention. As with most of the obliging stars booked for the weekend, Wright will be on hand to autograph all manner of memorabilia, moobs and movie posters.
