LEMMINKÄINEN TO BUILD PART OF THE CITY INFRASTRUCTURE FOR A NEW RESIDENTIAL AREA IN STOCKHOLM

HELSINKI, 29-Nov-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Lemminkäinen and the City of Stockholm have signed a contract on building part of the complex city infrastructure for the new Stockholm Royal Seaport residential area in Stockholm. The project will start in December 2016 and be completed in April 2018. The value of the project is approximately EUR 13 million.

The contract covers the demolition of the current oil pier, excavation work, treatment of contaminated soil, concrete works and piling as well as construction and paving of new roads.  The piling work will be carried out in water.

The Stockholm Royal Seaport project is part of Stockholm’s urban development project where the city’s south harbour will be developed into a new residential area. In 2030, the area that has formerly been used for gas and other industrial production will have 12,000 inhabitants and offer work places for 35,000 people.

“The Stockholm Royal Seaport project is a great example of urban development and we are excited to be part of it. Our solid experience and expertise in complex city infrastructure projects enables us to carry out the project so that the surrounding ferry traffic can operate normally,” says Harri Kailasalo, Executive Vice President, Infra projects at Lemminkäinen.
