Federal Statistical Office (Destatis): 2.1% decline in manufacturing sector turnover in real terms adjusted for seasonal fluctuations and working-day variations in June 2015 vs May 2015

WIESBADEN, 10-8-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — As reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on the basis of provisional data, the manufacturing sector saw turnover fell in real terms adjusted for seasonal fluctuations and working-day variations 2.1% in June 2015 compared with May 2015. In May 2015, the increase remained after correction compared with April 2015, by 0.8%.

In June 2015, domestic turnover decreased by 0.8%, the business with foreign customers declined 3.3%. Sales to euro area countries were 0.7% above preceding month’s level, sales to other countries went down 6.0%.

Compared with the preceding year, real turnover in manufacturing showed a total increase of 1.4% in June 2015 after having been adjusted for working-day variations.

Increases were observed in domestic sales (+0.9%), turnover from business with foreign customers rose by 1.9%. Among foreign transactions, sales to euro area countries increased by 6.4%, while turnover with other foreign countries fall 1.0%.

For the first half year 2015, the (working-day adjusted) turnover in manufacturing was 1.8% above the level of the same period of the previous year; domestic turnover ascended 0.1% and foreign turnover increased 3.5%.
