Egis in charge for the maintenance of Muntinlupa Cavite Expressway in Philippines for 7 years together with operation advisory for Ayala Corporation

The President of the Republic inaugurated the Muntinlupa Cavite Expressway, or MCX, in the Philippines on Friday 24 July 2015. He drove his private car and paid the toll. MCX was toll free for one month and now becomes tolled. Egis has started the operation and maintenance of this expressway for 7 years, ensuring its long-standing presence of motorway operator in this country.

Guyancourt, France, 26-8-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — The MCX, previously called the Daang Hari – SLEX Link Road, is a 4 km long toll road linking South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) to the Daang Hari road (Daang Hari means the road of the king) in the south of Metro Manila.

Egis is in charge of the maintenance of this expressway for 7 years together with operation advisory for Ayala Corporation, the oldest conglomerate in the Philippines which won the project as concessionaire in December 2011. Before that, on 28 August 2014 Egis had signed a contract for the turnkey supply and installation of the Fixed Operating Equipment of the road.

The project, though rather small with a unique toll barrier with 13 toll lanes, is in fact complex as it involves the seamless interconnection with the SLEX, a very busy expressway deserving all the provinces south of Metro Manila, with daily traffic averaging 240,000 vehicles.

This concession is part of the public private partnership (PPP) programme of the Republic of the Philippines and was the first one to be awarded.

It also represents also the first activities secured by Egis in the Philippines outside the North Luzon Expressway (NLE).

Egis is an international group offering engineering, project structuring and operations services. In engineering and consulting its sectors of activity include transport, urban development, building, industry, water, environment and energy. In roads and airports its offer is enlarged to encompass project structuring, equity investment, turnkey systems delivery, operation and mobility services.

Employing 12,000 people, including 7,800 in engineering, the group generated a managed turnover of €854 million in 2014.

Egis is 75% owned by the French “Caisse des Dépôts” and 25% owned by Iosis Partenaires, (a “partner” executive and employee shareholding).
