EADS marks 50 years Franco-German cooperation under the Élysée Treaty with special internship programme

Toulouse,  8-7-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Élysée Treaty and promoting Franco-German cooperation, EADS has teamed up with the Franco-German Youth Office (Office Franco-Allemand pour la Jeunesse OFAJ/ Deutsch-Französisches Jugendwerk DFJW) to launch a special internship programme for young people. EADS is one of two industrial sector companies on the OFAJ/ DFJW Advisory Board.

A total of 100 two month internships across EADS’ divisions will be offered to 50 French and 50 German young people between 18 and 23, who are not otherwise in employment or enrolled in an education programme. The interns will work together and with EADS employees in a multilingual and international environment. The programme will offer on-the-job training, as well as a structured mentoring and support programme, to build work place skills, improve employability and provide a unique insight into the aerospace and defence industry.

Tom Enders, CEO of EADS, said: “Young people with an international mindset are the lifeblood of our Company and of our still young industry. They are our link to the future and key to maintaining our competitiveness on the global market. I can think of no better way to mark half a century of successful cooperation between France and Germany fostered by the Élysée Treaty than encouraging young people to carry on that work in the decades to come. EADS was founded on this relationship and is a successful model, not only of Franco-German, but also of European collaboration. As we reach more and more beyond Europe as a Group, our roots in France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom continue to be fundamental to our growth and our future.”

Applications for the internship programme can be submitted via the website of the Franco-German Youth Office: www.dfjw.org/praxes
