Deutsche Telekom and CipherCloud to present enterprise cloud computing security at CeBIT 2014

  • Secure cloud usage through real-time data encryption
  • Co-operation with start-ups for faster market launches
    of security innovations
  • CipherCloud Gateway at the Telekom stand

Hannover, Germany, 10-3-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Deutsche Telekom and CipherCloud are making enterprise cloud computing more secure. The start-up and Europe’s leading cloud provider have an encryption solution that delivers effective security for data on the way to the cloud and in the cloud itself. With capital from the T-Venture fund, Telekom supports CipherCloud, a start-up which already serves 2.5 million business customers worldwide with a gateway for encrypted data storage in the cloud. This investment represents the Telekom strategy focused on developing innovative solutions in collaboration with competent partners. It also reflects a strong commitment to data security and data protection. A solution comprised of CipherCloud with Salesforce is being demonstrated at the Deutsche Telekom stand during CeBIT 2014.

T-Systems will soon be in a position to set up and run CipherCloud servers for corporate customers. Enterprises that have avoided cloud computing due to concerns about data security will now benefit from the cloud without any worry.

The CipherCloud Gateway encrypts data, for example with the Salesforce solution, in a way that safeguards data on its way to the cloud and in the cloud itself. CipherCloud thereby enables the secure utilization and full control of data in private, hybrid and public cloud applications, and resolves concerns regarding data protection and regulation in cloud applications. Encrypting has no impact on the data structure or operations

CipherCloud users decide for themselves which data should be protected and encrypted, and for which application. If a business enterprise wants to protect its Salesforce data, for example, it takes care of this via the gateway. The encryption process is automatic and takes place in real time, before the data reaches the cloud. Decryption is performed only when an authorized employee retrieves the data from the cloud and the data has been returned. Thus information is constantly protected against unauthorized access, regardless of where the enterprise processes or stores the data. Sensitive information is also not available to cloud providers, even if they do not adhere to stringent German data protection regulations.

Deutsche Telekom’s corporate customer arm has bundled the complete IT security portfolio in the new Cyber Security business area, so that the development of new products can be promoted strategically. This also includes security innovations developed by start-ups financed through venture capital, so that solutions can be launched in the market more quickly. As the leading cloud provider in Europe,T-Systems has a particular responsibility when it comes to security issues.

Experience our products and services live at CeBIT from March 10 – 14 at the Deutsche Telekom stand in hall 4, stand C26. Deutsche Telekom’s entire presence at the trade fair is carbon-neutral: All CO2 emissions generated in setting up and operating the stand are offset fully by carbon-reduction projects abroad.
