BONN, 12-Sep-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Deutsche Post DHL Group will continue its longstanding sponsorship of Bonn’s world-renowned Beethovenfest music festival in 2016. The postal and logistics company, major sponsor of the Beethovenfest Bonn music festival for more than a decade, will also present an innovative new three-part concert series, entitled ‘Begegungnen’ (‘Encounters’). The series, designed to also draw younger audiences, will challenge conventional ideas about stage production and the format in which music is delivered to listeners.

“We are delighted to be extending our longstanding collaboration with the Beethovenfest and to be supporting such an important cultural engagement in Beethoven’s birthplace, Bonn. The festival will create many inspirational musical encounters for people of all ages,” said Christof Ehrhart, Director of Corporate Communications & Responsibility, Deutsche Post DHL Group.

With the overarching motto of ‘Revolutionen’ (‘Revolutions’) and under the artistic direction of German cultural scholar Nike Wagner, the Beethovenfest 2016 will feature performances from a broad range of international musical talents, including American violinist Hilary Hahn, the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra, the Bavarian State Orchestra and French drummer Manu Katché.

Deutsche Post DHL Group will as usual host a number of concerts in the Post Tower Lounge in the company’s iconic headquarters in Bonn. Visitors to the venue, a popular setting for jazz and classical music recitals, will be able to enjoy performances from international soloists including Taiwanese pianist Hsin-Huei Huan and German cellist Stephan Schrader, as well as a series of jazz matinees, chamber music recitals and concerts with up-and-coming young musicians. As in the past, events at the Post Tower Lounge will be free of charge. In addition, Deutsche Post DHL Group will once again support the “Bühne frei für Beethoven” (Clear the Stage for Beethoven) open air concerts on September 10, 2016, and the public viewing of the festival’s opening concert on Bonn’s main market square on September 11, 2016.
