Deutsche Boerse launches Open Innovation forum to keep the group at the cutting edge of financial market innovation

Frankfurt, 2-7-2014 — /EuropaWire/ — Open Innovation forum is Deutsche Boerse’s latest initiative to keep the group at the cutting edge of financial market innovation.

Open Innovation will for the first time establish a group-wide and systematic approach to attract external partners for innovation projects and build a community to incubate, develop and accelerate new business ideas coming from outside the group.

Open Innovation seeks to broaden the successful collaboration which DB has already established with its internal YouNovate programme, which invites employees and managers to send in ideas to improve and transform the way DB does business.

Over the past 5 years YouNovate has led to the development of ground-breaking projects, such as the DB Cloud Exchange and has led to many other product improvements and process efficiencies.

Open Innovation will also build on the exchange of knowledge and ideas as well as the network with other industries built up by DB’s innovation management programme in recent years.

“DB has an established track record of innovation and breakthroughs in financial market technology, but to stay in the lead we need to constantly find new ways to collaborate,” says Eurex Chief Innovation Officer Brendan Bradley.

Explaining how Open Innovation will work and mesh with DB’s existing innovation efforts, Bradley added:

“The idea is to ‘broker new ideas’ both internally and externally and seek new opportunities within the changing market environment.”

“In a fast-changing and highly competitive market, innovation is a key driver of success. To achieve our vision, we need to work with the smartest minds in the business,” Bradley added.
