Cloud and colocation provider UKFast is one of the top European businesses to work for in this year’s Best Workplaces Programme

MANCHESTER, 07-Jul-2016 — /EuropaWire/ — Manchester-based cloud and colocation provider UKFast has been named one of the top European businesses to work for in this year’s Best Workplaces Programme.

The firm, which moved to its Hulme campus three years ago, came 35th in the list overall and claimed the top spot for small and medium-sized British tech companies.

The European list follows a UK version published earlier this year, which saw UKFast being included for the sixth time and named the fifth best small and medium-sized workplace in the country.

UKFast CEO Lawrence Jones said: “It’s a business no-brainer to invest in your team and create an environment people really enjoy working in.

“The Best Workplaces list is a great honour, because the results are based on the opinions of the team I work with every day. We always listen to the feedback we receive from the survey and make immediate changes to keep the team happy and motivated.

“It’s one thing to have nice offices and fun perks, but I’ve learnt that what really matters to people is an opportunity to learn and develop in their jobs.”

UKFast’s office perks include sleeping pods, an on-site gym and crèche, as well as skiing trips to Switzerland, private movie premiere screenings and a full-scale beach on the car park during the summer months.

Aside from these rewards, Jones has also invested in a £4.5m in-house training and development centre, which puts training at the heart of the company’s growth strategy and offers courses from journalism to coding.

Jones said: “We now employ a team of full-time teachers with the view that people are more satisfied and more motivated by learning and development than by money. It has changed the way we work as a team.”

The most recent Best Workplaces in Europe publication listed the 50 best small and medium workplaces that appeared on any of the 19 national Best Workplaces lists published in Europe between November 2015 and June this year.
