Bonduelle to attend the “COP 21 Solutions” exhibition, 4 to 10 December, 2015 in Paris

PARIS, 1-12-2015 — /EuropaWire/ — From 4 to 10 December Bonduelle will be participating in the “COP 21 Solutions” exhibition, whichwill be open to the general public at the same time as the summit on climate change. The company, which will be present on the Greenflex stand, will thus present the broad outline of its CSR policy, together with one of its latest innovations: the “Vapeur” (or “Steam”) range.

An authentic innovation in production and marketing terms, this range involves the use of a specificsteam cooking process in the factory that enables vegetables to be canned using nearly 60% less water, while at the same time preserving all their qualities in terms of nutritional value and taste. For this reason Bonduelle hopes to be recognised not only as a pioneer for its production performance, but also as reference in terms of responsible corporate behaviour with regard to its stakeholders and the planet. This new generation of canned food products forms a clear part of this commitment.

For example, the green bean, from field to fork:

  • Fresh vegetables, grown in France and harvested at their best!
  • In just a few hours, the vegetables are harvested and steamed without preservative*
  • “Bonduelle Vapeur” canned vegetables contain up to 60% less water, meaning a product that’s much lighter to transport
  • 91% of the plant waste generated in the factories is reused**
  • Bonduelle prioritises alternative modes of transport, like rail, which results in an annual saving of over 5,800 tons of CO2**
  • 100% of storage is at ambient temperature
  • A tin can is recyclable an unlimited number of times

A commitment to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) policy that goes back nearly 20 years
The preservation of natural resources and biodiversity, and the reduction of the levels of greenhouse gas emissions, form part of the Bonduelle Group’s priorities. The commitment to sustainable development and to agriculture that respects the environment has been incorporated by the Group into its “VegeGo!” corporate project.

Today, thanks to the different initiatives introduced and to a policy of logistical optimisation, Bonduelle is showing results in terms of energy savings that are very encouraging. For example, the initiation of the biomass plant that now provides energy to our Estrées-Mons plant in the Picardy region of northern France has resulted in the doubling of the contribution of alternative energy sources to the Group’s energy mix (4.2% in 2014-2015). Another example is the development of the rolling road freight system, which has led to economies of nearly 5,838 tonnes of CO2 in 2014 – 2015. In October 2014, moreover, the company received the 1st Food Industry Energy Performance Award at the Global Food Marketplace (SIAL) trade fair.
