Arburg to present efficient injection moulding solutions at the Plastpol (7 to 10 May 2013)

  • Tailored: “Packaging” version and automation solutions
  • High performance: hybrid and electric Allrounders produce packaging and precision parts
  • Production efficiency: high quality at minimum unit costs

Lossburg, 28-3-2013 — /europawire.eu/ — At the Plastpol, which takes place in Kielce from 7 to 10 May 2013, Arburg will be presenting the topic of “production efficiency” with two exhibits: the energy-efficient electric and hybrid Allrounders are configured according to the application and automated with robotic systems. The hybrid Allrounder 570 H in the new “Packaging” version impresses through its speed and productivity: four high-quality IML tubs for the packaging industry are produced in 3.5 seconds. The electric Allrounder 470 A will demonstrate the high precision of the Alldrive machine series with the production of delicate components for writing implements for C. Josef Lamy GmbH. The aim of both injection moulding solutions is high production efficiency, i.e. the production of quality products at minimum unit costs.

At exhibition stand E-20 in Hall E, Arburg will present both of its high-performance series, the electric Alldrive and the hybrid Hidrive. As an indication of their energy-optimised operation, both exhibits bear the Arburg “e²” energy efficiency label.

High-quality IML tubs in 3.5 seconds

Fast, high-quality volume production using reliable and efficient technology is required in the packaging industry. The new packaging version of the high-performance hybrid Hidrive series meets these requirements. The Allrounder Hidrive models with the “P” designation have been consistently further developed to produce complete, high-performance solutions and optimised in virtually all areas. This includes the adaptation of distance between tie bars, clamping force and opening stroke to suit the performance characteristics required by the packaging industry.

Advantages of the Allrounder Hidrive packaging version are fast, precise and energy-saving mould movements thanks to servo-electric toggle-type clamping units, high plasticising capacities through the use of barrier screws and servo-electric dosage drives, as well as dynamically position-regulated screws, effective injection flow and energy-efficient operation due to the hybrid drive concept.

The hybrid Allrounder 570 H in the “Packaging” version, which will be exhibited at the Plastpol, has a clamping force of 1,800 kN and a size 1300 injection unit. It will produce margarine tubs using the in-mould labelling process, in a cycle time of 3.5 seconds. The moulded part weight is 6.5 grams and the material throughput is around 27 kilograms per hour. The 4-cavity mould is from Erkoc, the robotic system for feeding the labels and part removal from Roboplas.

This IML production cell clearly demonstrates that the high-performance hybrid machine enables extremely fast, reliable and, at the same time, high-quality processing. This enables Arburg’s goal of production efficiency, i.e. cost-effective part production at low unit costs throughout the entire value-added chain, to be achieved.

Precise components for high-quality writing implements

Because the electric Alldrive series is characterised by high precision, reproducibility and energy efficiency, writing implement manufacturer C. Josef Lamy GmbH uses electric Allrounder A machines in its production. For the Plastpol, the company will provide a 4-cavity mould: components for writing implements will be produced on an Allrounder 470 A with a clamping force of 1,000 kN and size 170 injection unit. The moulded part weight is 2.42 grams and the cycle time is 21.7 seconds.

The moulded parts will be removed by a vertically operating Multilift V, which, like all Arburg robotic systems, is fully integrated into the Selogica machine control system. A comparable automation solution is used by Lamy in its own injection moulding production. In addition to the advantages of the electric Allrounder, the central control system of this application enables shorter cycle times and extremely production-efficient operation.

Production efficiency as our overarching philosophy

The machines presented at the Plastpol demonstrate the potential of the modular Allrounder range: Arburg technology as well as customer and product requirements can be perfectly coordinated to suit the individual application. The main focus is always on production efficiency: it is essential to use resources as efficiently as possible and exploit available potential to the full. The aim is maximum productivity at minimum operating costs and therefore to achieve a high level of efficiency.

For this purpose, Arburg works together with the customer in examining the entire value-added chain and considering all influencing factors, from product design and mould technology through to production planning. This approach is increasing in importance worldwide.
