ALUMINIUM of GREECE wins two top awards at the Health & Safety Awards 2016

Maroussi, Greece, 11-Jan-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — Carrying away two top awards at the Health & Safety Awards 2016 ceremony event, organised by Boussias Communications, ALUMINIUM of GREECE (AoG), a MYTILINEOS Group subsidiary, proved that it rightfully ranks among Greece’s enterprises which are leading promoters of health and safety at the workplace.

In particular, AoG won the first prize in the category “Alumina and Aluminium Production & Trading”, for the Implementation of the “Health & Safety at work” thematic Consultation with its Stakeholders; and the gold award in the “Activities” category, for its “Right Hemisphere” Employee awareness-raising communication campaign on Health and Safety.

In detail, the purpose of the thematic Consultation was to allow the company to engage in a substantial dialogue with expert scientists, health and safety professionals and representatives of large enterprises, who could contribute their valuable knowledge and experience to AoG’s commitment to the continuous and responsible management of Health and Safety issues. Indeed, in 2015 ALUMINIUM of GREECE was the only Greek heavy industry to organise a dialogue specifically focused on Health & Safety.

At the same time, the innovative communication campaign for the activation of the “Right Hemisphere” aims to raise the employees’ awareness of Health and Safety issues, by adopting an approach that is not purely technical but relies on appropriate stimuli / messages to trigger imagination, creativity and emotion. The campaign was carried out by a team ALUMINIUM of GREECE employees in cooperation with the plant’s Safety Department.

The Health & Safety Awards institution has been established with the aim of showcasing and rewarding the efficiency of Employee Health & Safety management systems, as well as the leading related practices applied by businesses and other organisations.
