2017 Theodore Roosevelt Award presented to EY’s Beth Brooke-Marciniak at the NCAA Honors Celebration

LONDON, 27-Jan-2017 — /EuropaWire/ — The National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) presented Beth Brooke-Marciniak, EY Global Vice Chair of Public Policy, with its highest honor, the 2017 Theodore Roosevelt Award, for her tireless commitment championing diversity and inclusion. Beth accepted the award during the NCAA Honors Celebration in Nashville, Tennessee, on 27 January 2017, where she addressed a room of more than 850 attendees.

The Theodore Roosevelt Award is presented annually to one former student-athlete who graduated and went on to become a distinguished citizen of national reputation based on outstanding life accomplishment.

Beth is the 48th recipient of the award and joins a distinctive list of honorees, including four former US presidents, Madeleine Albright and Sally Ride, among others. A former member of Purdue University’s women’s basketball team, Beth was among the first class of female athletes to receive an athletic scholarship from the institution. She is the seventh woman to win the Theodore Roosevelt Award, and the first women’s basketball player to be honored.

Beth Brooke-Marciniak, EY Global Vice Chair – Public Policy, says:

“I’m deeply moved to receive the Theodore Roosevelt Award and it was humbling to stand alongside the other honorees at the NCAA Honors Celebration, who are all truly making a difference in the world.”

Mark Weinberger, EY Global Chairman and CEO, says:

“Beth’s persistence and unwavering spirit are among the many reasons why her contributions to EY, business, sport and society have transcended borders and generated progress.”

Throughout her 36-year career at EY, Beth has been a champion of inclusive leadership and equality in the workplace. She helped found and currently leads EY’s Women Athletes Business Network, which provides mentoring to elite female athletes and highlights the connection between women, sports and leadership. Beth has been a regular on Forbes magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most powerful women. She chairs the Board of Vital Voices and co-chairs the International Council on Women’s Business Leadership, both founded by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. Beth also serves on the Board of The Aspen Institute, The Conference Board and the Advisory Board of the World Economic Forum.
